Heat transfer Analysis

 

PIPESTRESS calculates stresses due to temperature gradients in the pipe wall which occur during thermal transients.  The instantaneous temperature distribution in the pipe wall is calculated by solving a one-dimensional, axially symmetric heat transfer problem.

 

PIPESTRESS calculates the film coefficient from simplified steam table parameters.  For each THERMAL CONDITION, PIPESTRESS generates a HEAT TRANSFER TRACE as shown below.

 

Thermal gradient stresses may also be calculated externally and entered as input data into PIPESTRESS.
